This Week in Drupal SEO News: DrupalCon Copenhagen, Bing Makes the iPhone Squad and BP Buys "Oil Spill" Keyword
Unless you live on Tramalfadore, you know that the World Cup 2010 in South Africa is kicking off as I publish this post. The entire Volacci office is decked out in soccer jerseys, face paint, the passion for their squads. We've got fanatics for Spain, Greece, England, and, of course, the United States. But what about you? What team, other than the USA, are you routing for in the World Cup?
It's been a busy week at Volacci and some very intriguing stuff has come across the news desk. Join me after the jump for DrupalCon Copenhagen information, a video of Dries from DrupalCon Paris, and BP purchasing top spots for the term "Oil Spill".

Drupal and the Semantic Web
This is a video of Dries Buytaert at DrupalCon Paris last year. It may be several months old, but the commentary Dries provides about Drupal and its relationship with the semantic web is still very relevant. Plus, it’s just music to your ears to hear Dries’ voice say ‘Drupal’.
Bing Added as iPhone Search Option
This week at Apple’s developer conference, Steve Jobs announced that Bing would be added as a search option to the infamous iPhone. Google is currently the default search engine and can be changed to Yahoo in the settings. While Bing finally makes the “team”, Google will still stay your default search engine.
Just go to your Settings screen:
Click on the Internet Browser screen:
As you see, Google is set as the default. Just tab through to change your default and Badda-Boom-Badda-Bing!
BP Buys Top Spots for “Oil Spill” on Search Engines
In a move most are criticizing, BP has purchased sponsored links for the term “oil spill” that appear on the top of both Google and Yahoo’s search engine results pages. This is another initiative for a somewhat disastrous public relations campaign to smooth out the company’s image. Unfortunately, no amount of :30 spots, search engine results, Facebook campaigns, or payoffs will make for the damage caused to date by the oil spill.
