Volacci's New Site, My New Blog
Well, we've gone and done it now.
For the last month or so the Volacci team has been slaving away on what you see now: our brand, spankin' new website. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and I would like to thanks two people in particular for their hard work and dedication: Brian Massey, our project manager and conversion guru; and Alexei Rayu, our web designer. Great work guys!
We have two goals for this redesign. First, we wanted to take advantage of the new drupal 5.0 beta. Yep, that's right, this site is built on beta software. It's not something we would ever do with a client's website but we figured that this would get us ahead of the learning curve on the new software. The final drupal 5 release is due in the next month or two. (Ben checks drupal website...) Whoa! they just updated the Beta to RC2 (That is, Release Candidate 2). That means that the new, final version is imminent. Cool!
The Cobbler's Kids Get New Shoes...
Our second goal is to increase our conversion ratio. A conversion ratio is the number of "conversions" (in our case, leads) divided by the number of visitors. For example, if we get 2 leads from 100 visitors, our conversion ratio is 2%. That's pretty respectable for most websites but we aren't most websites! So, over the last several weeks we've been eating our own dogfood, so to speak, and rewrote much of our website structure and content.
One more change that you've probably already noticed if you're reading this. My blog posts now have their very own little home. This separation of all the cool tips, tricks, and commentary from our corporate messaging is another little recommendation from Brian. Thanks, man!
