Trending Tuesday: Google's Hot Topics


Today is the 25th anniversary of one of the largest nuclear disasters of all time, Chernobyl, and, surprisingly enough, it is not a top trending topic on Google. If you get some time today, look at some of NPR's Chernobyl coverage.

Without further adieu, here is what people are searching today.

1. The Royal Wedding
St. James Palace in London has released detailed information about the Friday wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The information includes a schedule, security, guest list and, of course, the cake.

2. Kristin Cavallari
I guess MTV's The Hills made more of an impact on society than anyone thinks. Last week was Audrina, this week is Kristin, who, in most recent news, is marrying Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

4. Birds
Maybe you noticed that today's Google homepage image is a doodle of birds. This graphic is in honor of the 226th birthday of John James Audubon, one of history's most famous bird enthusiasts. Audubon was not a founder of or even involved with the society named after him.

5. Princess Diana Death
The 1997 death of one of the world's most prominent icons for charity and justice has been brought back to the table. With the royal wedding upon us, many are revisiting the tragic death of Princess Diana, speculating her opinion of Prince William's soon-to-be bride Catherine Middleton and comparing the two relationships (William/Catherine, Charles/Diana).
