Should Small Business Sites Rank Better? Google Wants to Know.

“Does Google rank big sites above small sites?”

According to some SEO professionals, the answer is yes. But regardless of what side of the fence you fall on in that debate, marketers have some idea of what Google is looking for in determining a quality website for search ranking:

  • Proper keyword optimization of pages

  • High quality content

  • Social media presence and authority

  • Low technical errors (404s, website speed, etc.)

  • User experience name a few.

Does your small business site check off all of these things but you still aren’t seeing the results you want? Well Matt Cutts, the face of Google’s Search Quality team, has put out a survey, asking small sites to submit their URLs and give reasons as to why they should be ranking higher. You can check out the two-form survey yourself here: Google’s small website survey.

Though it isn’t a guarantee for review and higher rankings, would you still be willing to submit your small website to Google? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
