Organize Your Content Marketing With Drupal Modules

Drupal Content Type Groups Module Saves Time, Spares Headaches

Content types are a marketer’s best friend… right until they get out of hand. What starts off as a few custom content types can easily get out of hand once a Drupal website has been around for a year or two. So what can a marketer do to get things under control?

Lullabot talked recently about a great module that allows for content type groups, which lets administrators define groups of content, and makes it easier to simplify and manage views. The module, called the Content Type Groups module, works neatly to simplify the node add page.

Why is this great news for marketers? It’s simple. The Content Type Groups module will allow marketers to group like content with like content. Chances are that your node add page is a mess, and when it’s time to add new content to your website you have to scroll… and scroll… and scroll… until you find exactly what you’re looking for.

Thankfully, the Content Type Groups module means that marketers won’t accidentally click on “image” when they meant to add a “landing page,” or may inadvertently add an “author” instead of a “blog.” The module is easy enough to use that even marketers who are allergic to coding can use it.

Since every Drupal website (like every organization) is different, marketers can arrange content in groups that make sense for their specific website. Though the time savings on this may be seconds or minutes, a little bit adds up— and avoiding stress is key to having a happier, more productive marketing team.

What do you think? Will you be deploying the Content Type Groups module on your website? Let us know in the comments.
