Google Gets Algorithm Enhancement
In an algorithm “enhancement” this January, Google placed emphasis on brands in the way that searches are conducted. There hasn’t been too much buzz until recently, but the proverbial cat has scratched itself out of the bag and is looking for another one. A theory floating about the web is that Google is now looking at the brand’s marketing strategy as a whole.
An enhancement theory debates whether it is measured by how many times a brand is mentioned on blogs, posts, forums, online ads or how many times the brand is typed into the search. Established brands are increasingly important signals that content can be trusted. SEO 101 says every potential online conversion is looking for a website and content they can trust.
If you haven’t already, it may be time to try to think about your business as a brand. Are you really getting your name out there on the web? Are you blogging, befriending, commenting, tweeting, and joining groups to build your brand’s awareness and reputation? If the answer is ‘No’, you many need an SEO enhancement.
