Social bookmarking is a great way to create internet buzz about your business, brand, products, or services and build links to your site. The idea of social bookmarking sites is that the visitors decide what is popular and what is not. If you provide interesting, unique content on your site, you will gain popularity and possibly wind up on the front page of a social bookmarking site, such as Digg. If you do make the front page, you will receive an amazing amount of traffic, which could result in a number of valuable reviews and ratings for your service or product.
Social bookmarking will also generate, if done correctly, a significant amount of links that will benefit your search engine optimization campaign and overall search engine rankings. Even bad reviews are viewed as new content to the search engine spiders. Search engines are looking for new content when they crawl your site. Why not give it to them?
If you do not offer outstanding content, you will still get links, but will only result in lower than anticipated reviews or traffic. If you decide to use the opportunity to spam other websites with salesy comments, then your reputation and company will be viewed as spam and ruin the entire brand experience for anyone that may consider you as a potential investment.
Social bookmarking is meant for your online community. You should cater your bookmarks to a real person, not to the search engines. If you present relevant, original content that is not spam, you will succeed. The search engines will be able to distinguish between spam and non-spam and filter out the spam using the same method they do with all other spam.
Social bookmarking is excellent for link building, which is one of the most important elements of search engine optimization. Link building the whitehat way will only help you increase your rankings and traffic. If you spam, you will be found, punished and banished from the Internet. And that is never good for business.

Competitors were outranking me because I was nowhere to be seen. My website was probably 20 or 30 pages back until I engaged with Volacci… Now I’m getting phone calls from people saying ‘I found you on the Internet’.
