Google and Yahoo! postpone Paid Search deal

Of Friday it was announced that Google and Yahoo! will hold off on their somewhat controversial Paid Search deal. The deal would allow Google to sell ads on Yahoo! sites. This would mean a huge increase in the websites available for Google's ads and it would mean a revenue increase for Yahoo!. It would also mean more ad space and opportunity for typical search engine ad buyers.

Earlier the search engines said they would go forward with the deal in spite of current investigations into whether it violates anti-trust laws.
This postponement is to allow more time for a Justice Department investigation. As long as the Justice Department doesn't interpret this as a merger/acquisition or determine that the search giants could potentially fix prices, then things should go forward as planned.
