Goodbye old CMS, hello Drupal! Our partners over at Mediacurrent announced last week that they will take part in the migration and site redesign for the City of Memphis. Using Drupal and OpenPublic, Mediacurrent will be working closely with Phase2 Technology to create a site that is both transparent and flexible. "Mediacurrent is extremely excited about the annoncement that the City of Memphis selected Drupal as the content management system of choice for their redesign," said Dave Terry, managing partner at Mediacurrent, "The site will be accessible, intuitive, and offer local government officials the opportunity to truly engage their constituents."

From Mediacurrent's blog:

The City of Memphis is not in a unique situation by any means. There are numerous government websites that were built on legacy systems that have become out-dated. Memphis’s current website was built in 2001. This is where Drupal and OpenPublic really shine. Most public sector agencies have massive amounts of data that need to be properly stored and highly accessible without impacting performance or scalability. OpenPublic provides a government specific Drupal platform that is customizable, robust, and adept at handling high-traffic sites that need top-notch security measures.
