Does your small business need SEO?

If you are a small business owner and your business has a web presence, you need to evaluate how you want your website to work for you. Do you want more business? Do you want to save money on advertising?

If the answer to either of these is 'yes' then SEO can help you accomplish this. Get Page One recently wrote about the role of Search Engine Optimization in small business. There are small businesses that either don't need or can't handle more customers, their website is solely there for their existing customers. Here is the example given:

"Some small businesses actually don’t want more business. My mechanic routinely turns people away. He’s happy with his current volume of customers. Good for him. If he came to us looking for search engine optimization for small business, we’d tell him we couldn’t help him."

But if your small business is actively needing more business and you would like to save money you are spending on radio, television or phone book advertising, then SEO is what you need
